Madison's Transformed Chair

Some of you may remember Madison's pink chair with her name in the back of it....well you can imagine what a toddler did to baby pink chenille. It was disgusting!!!! Mimi and I decided that we would just take the fabric of and wash it then put it back on. Yeah right!!!!! It was not that easy and I ended up having to recover it. Yes you heard me correctly, I reupholstered a chair. Madison was so happy to have her favorite chair back and Makenzie even had to try it out. I think it turned out beautifully!

Growing Boy

I am happy to report that Makenzie now weighs 9 pounds 4 ounces and is 21 1/2 inches long! I couldn't believe he had grown so much. He does eat like a pig and snorts like one to for that matter. We are having his pictures made Friday so we will have some beautiful pics.

Madison & Makenzie

Madison still loves to hold Makenzie occasionally. Lately when he is in his papazan she has been trying to pick him up by herself. Needless to say he can't be out of sight with her around.

A night with dad

Mike has a different way of spending time with Makenzie and as you can see Madison is not far away from there sides. Makenzie was enjoying chilling with dad for a few minutes

Family Fun

Well to say that it has been a crazy two weeks would be a vast understatement! We have thankfully had family in town since the night before Makenzie mad his entrance into the world and it has been a huge help. Last Thursday my sister Melanie and her tow children Jonathan and Makayla came to spend the weekend with us. Then on Friday my dad, Denisa & Mama Barb arrived. Four children 3 and under was interesting, they had a blast though. It was great to see all of them, and Makenzie may never lay down on his own again. While we were waiting for my dad to get there we took the kids to the pool at the club. They had a blast and Makenzie enjoyed lounging by the pool.

Makenzie, Madison & Mimi

Well it has been an exciting couple of days. I can't believe that he is already 5 days old and then sometimes I can't remember what life was without Makenzie in it. Madison has been amazing! Today she hit a bit of a wall so Mimi and I took her to the mall to play for a while. She had a blast. She was so tired when we were finishing up in a store that she actually fell asleep sitting up if you can imagine. Mike has been able to enjoy the week of with us which was not something he was able to do when we had Madison. It has been wonderful sharing these days as a family. Makenzie changes everyday and is now staying awake much more and loves to lay by himself and look around. Naturally, someone has to guard him from Madison who is all too interested in him. Thank God Mimi Strain has been able to stay with us and will be here for a few more weeks. I'm not sure how we would be managing without her. I know that she is enjoying the time with Madison and Makenzie as much as we are enjoying her. Well, it is late so I am going to run. I promise to try and do better this week.

We're Home

HI everyone- it's me and we are all home safe and sound. To say that the past few days have been eventful would be a huge understatement. To begin- on Tuesday 7/15 my doctor broke my water at 7:30 am. I was having steady contractions and I received the epidural around 10 or so. They kept on speculating that I would have him by 4, but after my 31 hr labor with Madison I could not believe them. They came in around 1 and checked me and told me that I was dilated to 7cm. Then 45 minutes later they came back to find that I was ready to push that they could already see the head. For a women who pushed her heart out for 3 1/2 hrs the first time, I thought y'all are so full of it. They asked me to push once (I was so numbed from the epidural I was not sure if I was pushing or what) and then they said stop, don't move , sneeze or laugh! He's coming get the doctor and Mike before this baby comes on his own. You can imagine my confusion, I am laying there feeling absolutely nothing and in disbelief that I am about to have a baby without experiencing the first drop of pain. Well, less than 15 minutes and two pushes I never felt later they lay a beautiful baby boy on me. Madison was asleep on the couch when it started and we had seconds to rush her out before her brother arrived. I still have a hard time believing that I actually gave birth to him. He is perfect and happy and so easy going. The direct opposite of his big sister. We (at my request) came home very early. I hate hospitals!!!! He loves being at home and you can see that Aubrey Mae is very interested in her latest sibling. She did much better welcoming this one. Madison is acting like nothing is new, but she does keep a regular check on where "zee baby" is. She is being a fabulous big sister! Dad is exhausted more so than I am I believe and is still asleep. We have an exciting day today. My mother, little brother Kamren and my Mawmaw and Pawpaw Overton are on there way. I better run get ready for them. Our love to you all and don't worry I will try to post new pics everyday. Love MeLeah

Makenzie and Madison

Makenzie's Arrival

Makenzie Adin Strain arrived July 15th at 2:21 p.m. He weighed 8 lb and 3 oz, he is 19 1/2 inches long. Lots of thick black hair. Mother and baby are doing great. Dad and Madison are doing great also. Madison wants to give him kisses and reaches out her little arms to hold her baby brother. He is a beautiful baby at least that is Mimi and Papa Strain's opinion. MeLeah will add more when she and Makenzie get home.

Madison's Big Sister Toys

After my interesting day yesterday I decided that I needed to finish all of the things I wanted done before Makenzie's arrival. I have been wanting to take Madison and get her a few things that she could have when he arrived. I want her to feel as included as possible. I found this set at Toys-R-Us and thought it was perfect. It had everything that the baby would use in it. I put it together while she was asleep so it was the first thing she saw when she got up and she was so excited. She kept on saying oh boy and oh my. She has been playing with it ever since. I think its her new favorites. I think she is going to be a great big sister. I will probably have to keep a close eye on her to make sure that Makenzie doesn't end up in her toys.
